The holiday season is upon us, and there's no better time to bring the warmth and aroma of comforting dishes to your gatherings or private table. Dive into the festive spirit with my Slow Cooker Swedish Meatballs — a timeless classic that's not only delicious but also incredibly easy to prepare. Let the slow cooker work its magic as you spend more time celebrating and less time in the kitchen.

The best part of this recipe is you can cater to your own tastes and skill level in the kitchen. If you want to use frozen meatballs, go for it. If you'd rather make your own to save some money and know exactly what ingredients are in your meatballs, that's what I do too.

Make Ahead Meatballs: There's also a happy medium; you can make these meatballs, bake them off, and then freeze them well ahead of time. These meatballs will stay good in the freezer for at least 3 months! Prep your meatballs way in advance and then reheat them in the slow cooker with my Swedish meatball sauce whenever you need a quick meal or have company coming and you don't feel like cooking!

Lost in the Sauce: For this sauce I highly recommend using beef bone broth over regular beef stock, the texture of bone broth makes the sauce so silky and a little extra thick. I also add the organic Better Than Bouillon beef base to give it a bit of oomph. If you only have access to regular beef stock, it won't hurt anything.

This recipe can easily be made gluten free by using the gluten free substitute you usually use for meatballs, the sauce is already naturally gluten free!

I make these meatballs quite frequently, my husband requests them at least once a month so I love that I can prep out a lot of meatballs and then throw everything in the slow cooker so I can walk away and do other things!

At my Christmas party last year these were DEVOURED by my guests, people were literally hovering around the slow cooker helping themselves to seconds and thirds. I'd say if you're looking for an appetizer that keeps itself warm all night on the kitchen counter, this would be the one I'd choose!
